Guidelines for
Systemic Anesthetics & Analgesics

(Non-Human Primates)

 

Short, restraint - not sufficient for surgery

Minimally invasive procedure.  Slightly longer duration. Light to moderate sedation.

Anesthetic induction to facilitate endotracheal intubation.

Non-Human Primate

Ketamine 10 mg/kg IM
~15 min
 

Ketamine 3 mg/kg +
Medetomidine 0.15 mg/kg IM
~40-60 min
 

Depending on the experience level, either ketamine alone or ketamine/medetomidine may be used to intubate. Please contact DLAR for assistance.
