Animal abuse or neglect is an affront to human morals and ethics and is counter to the responsibility that accompanies the privilege of using animals to teach us how to better care for ourselves and for the animals of this earth.

Animals who are participating in our biomedical research and teaching program deserve the best we can provide in caring, compassionate, and social environment.

Animal abuse or neglect will not be tolerated on this campus.
All reports will be treated with confidentiality
and will be investigated fully.
The administration of Duke, the veterinary staff, and the IACUC are committed to meeting or surpassing all applicable government guidelines and regulations for animal care and use, ensuring that animals used on campus are well cared for, and used appropriately and in minimal numbers.
The Duke Institutional Animal Care & Use Committee is the final arbitrator on concerns of animal care or use. Decisions of the Committee are final.
Remember: Failure to report animal abuse / misuse is
support for animal abuse / misuse!
